GU to GQ axle swap
GU to GQ axle swap
I am considering replacing my gq axle assemblies (disc to disc) with GU ones. Is there anything I need to consider with this or is it just a straight forward swap with maybe a new steering arm on the front?
seen it done with diff assemblys out of a 2.8 td GU, just had to make a new steering arm, wizard performance will make you one.
if your diffs are from a petrol, brakes may be different, might pay to check.

What is different on the steering??
From what I have been told, the pitman arm is different. IE the steering arm mounts to it from the opposite side to the GQ.

I was talking to a bloke who has fitted a GU Steering box to his GQ he said the difference was the TRE mounts into the top of the GQ pitman arm and into the bottom of the GU Pitman arm or vise versa.

Yeah I knew it was one or the other, for his he just cut the end off turned it around and welded it. He said if he did it again though he'd just get an aftermarket adjustable one.
