Ok guys, we often talk about the light weight advantage of the sierra and there is always a debate over using a heavier drivetrain.
I weigh 1280kg with the setup that you see in my sig (effectively a hilux drivetrain), including an extremely heavy spare (it was a split rim), ARB winch bar, recovery gear, pissy 4 point lcage and towbar etc. Now compared to a similarly equiped hilux I'm still extremely light. I guess most hilux's on 33's with bars etc would be around 1700-1900kg mark??
If we are varying in weights between say 950kg and 1400kg, then we are still much lighter than most other 4wd's out there. But most modified sierra's would be most likely around the 1100kg and up, so is this 300kg range really going to make a huge difference offroad and spoil the "lightweight advantage".
So, let us know what your drivetrain is, tyre size etc. and as accurate as possible weight.

in comparasin my car would be considered stock, well stock 1.3 motor with some extra stuff, all suzuki drivetrain (with rockhopper - weight difference will be bugger all), suzuki axels and diff with 31's, ive also taken out the rear seats (up for sale) so i'm only guessing but i'd say i'd be under the standard weight if not dead on it.

JUst take a load of your shit to the tip in the back ,when you pay get the docket , it has the wieght at entry and at depature.
extra 300kg , maybe grab three freinds at about 100kgs's each do a tough bit of trail , then do it without the blobs, It does make a difference.
but if the wieght is in the right spot like a set of stronger diffs i think its probly a good point as the c/o/g is lowered as well as getting a wider track and stronger axles/ cvs ect.

I havn't had mine on a weighbridge but on paper it weighs about 800kg.
I might be getting it corner weighed next week so I'll let you know.A mate has a set of corner scale as he does a lot of race cars so I will be able to tell how much weight is on each wheel.

It would be great to use a corner scale and find out what the weight distribution is.
The weighbridge that I've used is around the corner from where I get my sierra certified. Its just a truck depot with large silos full of cement product of some sort. So the trucks drive in, get weighed, load up and weigh out again. You just pay $10, drive on and pick up the printout from the window. I have wondered about the accuracy. It would have to be reasonably accurate but the 1280kg would be a fairly small amount of its total scale, say 40 or 60 ton or so (is the 40ton for semis their load capacity or is it the gross vehicle mass??).
Actually, I weighed my sierra at 4 stages over several years. I will find my weigh tickets tomorrow and post the results, but I can tell you the stages now.
I think I had the ARB bar, 4 point cage and towbar on the whole time.
Stage 1- SPOA probably weighed with 235/75's
Stage 2- as above with efi vit motor, probably also weighed with 235/75's
Stage 3- as above with hilux diffs, definitely weighed with 32" BFG's
Stage 4- current setup with 33" swampers.
If you have a tip nearby that has a weighbridge, they would probably charge you $5 or something just to get a readout and not actually dump any rubbish.

you could just sit that thing on 4 bathroom scales...
I dont know what my zook weighs, but the Disco went on the weigh bridge ($10 I think) when I was designing the suspension and it came in at 2300kg which I thought was interesting as the paper work states 2050kg. The only heavy add were a bar, barrier, full tank and dog. I'm sure the bar isn't 250kg!

stock 89 Range Rover Vogue, 5 speed, alloys 205R16's, basically factory other than LPG
2000kg, no driver, full tanks (60lt LPG, 80lt fuel)
1100kg rear axle
900kg front axle
