Mitsubushi TD04-11G

Post by whiteknight »

am looking at a 2nd hand Mitsubushi TD04-11G Turbo for my 2.8d Hilux..

I cant seem to find much on the net - anyone know if these are any good?

And what the costs are to do the seals and bearing overhaul?

Yes they are pretty good.
CAPA use the Mitsi TD04 or TD05 with their turbo kits for normal diesels.
They are good for about 12 PSI anymore than that will shorten their life.
They are a relatively small turbo so spin up very quickly giving very good response - perfect for diesels.
The TD04 was standard for the early Paj 2.3 and 2.5 turbo diesels.
I know Guts ran a Mitsu turbo on his Lux before the V8 and he was pretty happy with it not sure which one he had though. I remember him saying it was small and spooled up very quick.
I just luv my "clacker Jabber"

I run this exact turbo in mine, has been in there for about 3 years/60,000 k's, hasnt missed a beat. Its now pushing 11psi and reaches 500 degrees post turbo at full load, generally though it rarely goes over 400.
