as far as i can see you will need a new starter, alternator, all new bulbs, glow plug timer, relays, the works, and if its auto, the autos might operate on the voltage of the rig so tyhat might need mods

24V isnt that much of a pain in the arse.......

winchs at 24V have less current draw, so smaller cabling. and you can get a 24 to 12V converter to run some 12V accessories, although i think you will find that it already has one, it just may not be large enough to do more than the standard 12V accessories

Pretty sure there is 2 different looms - one 24v and another for 12v.

I have done a 24 to 12 conversion in a MQ and while it was successful the actual gauge of the wiring seemed less and hence things got warm like the wiring to the headlights.

Safari's are a good thing, i am happy with mine so far.

My shorty safaris awesome....and bling. Only problem I have is that over a couple of months my passenger side battery drains itself so I have to just charge it up with a battery charger.
And before everyone says anything, yes I have checked it all out and still cant find out what the hell is doing it :?

We just worked on an import and it was awsome. Very tidy and low Kms. I would not worry about the 24volt system or changing it to 12volt. Plus I believe the jap 4.2's are stronger than the Aus ones.

I read somwhere that Kym Bolton imported a Jap 4.2 to build up because they are built tougher than the Aus version.

the price up here in gods country for my 88 swb safari was about 15000, a mate paid 16000 for his lwb. These were both bought from import car yards so we paid a bit more because of that but both were in great condition and both had about 115000kms on them so it wasnt really a concern. If your looking at getting one I recommend it as I have had no major probs with mine and its sweet as :D
