H260 Nissan?

Dana 60's out of the old G60 Patrol? (good luck finding a locker)

Unimog isn't quite an everyday diff but Im sure there's some 4x4 tiptrucks from Diahatsu or someone that are relatively common

Lots of misinformation here.......

In terms of "everyday" diffs then

Salisbury is weak - only got little 24 spline axles - can be ungraded to 35
9in is weak only got little 28 (car) or 31 (F100)spline axles - can be upgraded to 40
Dana60 is weak - only got little 30 (f250) spline axles - can be upgraded to 35 spline
12 bolt is fawkin weak no matter how you upgrade it.

So the strong everyday diffs are IMO-
Nissan H260 - about a 10.25in crownwheel and approx 1.6in 37 spline axles
D70 - about a 10.5in crownwheel (I think) and 1.5in 35 spline axles
14 bolt - about 10.5in crownhweel and 1.5in 30 spline axles

I agree, and in one of the later 4 wheel mags from the states, the 14b chev with the 10.5" ring gear is very strong, also the newer 14 bb with the 11.5 gears are stronger. Strangly they rate the 10.25 and 10.5 Sterling diffs (out of late '80's onward f trucks) even stronger.

Dana 60's are not very strong, except in a front application. they are the strongest around, but usually need upgrading.
Dana 70's are stronger fronts, and strong rears, although only found in late OKA's in the front.

Rear diffs need to be a Full Floater for strength, with large tyres.
