Has any one actually fit an original fj40 power steering box to a standard steering fj 40/45??
IF I have a standard steering fj45, are any of the parts like the drag link(Diff part number) and other parts of the steering gear going to be different?
I know the end assembly for the steering drag link(for pitman arm) is different, are any of the rods different etc??
Such as:
End sub assy, steering drag link (for pitman arm)
non power steering part number 45046-60010- ,where as with power steering its 45430-60030
and also the shaft sub assembly,steering main after the steering wheel has different part numbers inside the steering tube?
(shaft sub assembly,steering main)
without power steering 45201-60034
with power steering 45201-60071
Does power steering have a different steering shaft?? (the shaft the steering wheel is on)

I'd appreciate an answer from someone who is informed or has done this conversion.
I have a original fj40 power steering setup to fit so I'd rather not enter into using fj60 boxes etc....

retro fitting an original fj40 power steering box to a fj40

True about the steering column shaft (whatever it's called) - although i think i had to swap the drag link (is that what you call the rod from the steering box arm to the idler box?), i used 60 series pump of the 2H, trimmed down my fan to miss the pulley, had my bottom radiator outlet moved, new pressure line, re-used the old return lines, also used a 60 series remote reservoir.
The box came out of a BJ42, 3B eng, and the pump was too much work to mod to fit (i got scared).
Although it worked fine in the shorty, with 31's, it won't turn standing still with 35's. Must have this looked at one day, (prob start a thread too), but once you move the tiniest bit it works like normal power steer - very much good.
I can take pics if you need them - although someone else did a similar conversion with pics on here somewhere - hang on, i think that was using 60 series box...?...
