Betya hilux or 121 wont go where ya patrol will and ya prado will break its cv's or fr diff. I like driving driving my wifes 121 around town too, but give me my 3.o auto GU on the highway any day, let alone switch on the fr diff lock and i'll see ya DAT later.
Lets keep apples with apples. Wish they'd put the mazda glove box in the patrol but.

Yes, but after 30minutes behind the wheel I find Im back in the Patrol groove and enjoying it. Definately an aquired taste though. :D

Imagine how much I notice it jumping from my car into the Patrol ;)

Just drive an MQ exclusively for a couple of years. Anything feels like luxury then.

Who cares what it drives like.

Still the most capable standard 4 wheeler out there. A few extra mods as well and you have a great tough vehicle.

Who wants to drive a landcruiser, pajero and the like with all the electronic bullsh*t.

Give me a Patrol any day.

Thats my thoughts too.
My Patrol can sit in the shed for up to a month while I drive my car around and its a hell of a culture shock to get back in the GU, but in a short time its all good. :D

Cars can be fun but offoad is where its at

Try chaining the front of a patrol to the front of a newer 4wd (hilux, prado etc) and have a tractor pull. Watch as the patrol rips the more "refined" newer "4wd" to pieces.

I drove a 1999 Land Rover Defender for 18 months and now I have a 1989 GQ.....everything is better about it.............and it feels quiet, comfy and easy to drive by comparison...........everything is relative. But I'd never buy a Pladoe or Hilux anyway.

The idea is torque not speed , and notice that everyone is using patrol diffs as toyota make there weak as piss .

I have to swap from my '89 Patrol (TD42) to my girlfriends new Mazda 3 quite frequently. Every time I do, it takes me a good while to get used to it again. The gearstick throw feels like it's about a centimetre, there's absolutely no feedback through the clutch (resulting in roughly a 50/50 split between high revving takeoffs and almost-stalls.....) and every time I hit the brakes I think I'm going to put us through the windscreen  It's wierd, but it seems much easier to go back the other way after I've been driving the Mazda a lot.
