Hi Mick, the bellhousings are not the same. Even the starter and the clutch forks are on different sides. Never done it though.

Why it would be far better to sell your 3f 80 and buy a 1fz 80 as ther are so many differences mechanically as well as setting up the EFI would be a huge job. Pull your acc off your 3f80 sellit buy a 1fz80 and you would have more $$$$$$ left in the bank than doing a conversion.

Next week I am starting with the conversion of my fj80 to hzj80, after 3 months of parts hunting I finally have everything ready to go. The job will set you back a couple grand, but anyway, its gonna be fun doing it.

Have a look at www.ozsigns.com/aussie/fj80tohzj80

Excellent website. Clicking the pictures lead to non existent files for me however. Please show the wiring and plumbing changes as the devil is in the details. Did you change the entire gearbox or did you only change the input shaft?

Yeah Dave, I know about the links, haven´t uploaded the full size pics because they are still quite big.

Gearbox... changed the whole lot, you can however, change only the input shaft.

Conversion... don´t forget it´s a 1HZ (factory 80series DO come with this engine), so, if you are able to get all the bits and pieces, the job shouldn´t give much headaches.

Wiring... I have the original looms with the engine, so the conversion will look nice and pretty, the wiring isn´t that hard, because all you do is hookup the oil sender with the new one, etc. I am still getting a sparky to connect fuel heaters/glowplugs/alternator.

Plumbing... the hoses for the heater (coolant) get replaced by diesel version hoses... power steering aswell, the clutch lines are also genuine stuff.

I´ll be updating with transplant pics soon as the job hasn´t been started yet, I will get into it on Aug-13 and we will have lots of pics (hoping we don´t miss any stage)
