Let us know how you get on mate. I know my swivel hubs are leaking as well and am curious how to fix them. I've pulled apart and replaced the c.v and axle but didn't pull hte swivel hub off. Whats invovled in it guys?

I have an HJ61 Land cruiser with hubs I can't stop leaking because there is a wear mark on the axle itself. When I put the new seal in I had to take a small amount of the spring out of the seal so it would have a tighter seal around the axle. This worked for a couple of months but because of the seal wear on the axle it was bound to start leaking again, I have to replace the axles to stop it leaking for another 10 years My point is make a good inspection of your axles before replacing them into the diff, if they have wear marks a new seal wont fix it.
speedisleeves will fix this, approx $30/side. they are a bit awkward to fit to the axle but it sure beats buying new axles.

I have a mate who is a diff and gearbox specialist mechanic and he said you can't get speedy sleeves for the 60 series. However if you know where I can get them from, I would be most appreciative

I'm pretty sure I've done it before but not for a few years - speedisleeves are manufactured in a wide variety of sizes to suit many applications, it's unlikely there isn't one to suit. the only hard part is getting it on there unless you have a long piece of pipe the right diameter.

spoke to another mate that used to work for 4wd connections, hes gunna do it for me for 500bucks max :armsup:

that's still pretty steep dude. parts $150 labour $250 is about all you should pay from a shop to do it.

mmm, i have been told that shops charge between 7-800 for the job drive in drive out. i'll give a couple of joints a ring tommorrow and compare.

ask them if they are familiar with the job, and how long do they think it will take. anything more than 4 hours is wrong - as ruff has suggested it should only take about an hour a side, and you know what the kit is worth.

i think this maybe a common problem with bundy's everyone i've seen has had the sam problem including mine, i bought a kit of ebay for $100 delivered to my door, getting a mate to do it for $100 both sides, do axle seals normally come in the kits???

it's common to tall toyota 4WDs especially pre 1990 when they changed to a bigger seal. bundys might suffer more since they are oveerweight for the flimsy hilux front axle.

Hi all. Ah, what a great site. I just found it and already its helping me out. I've got the same problem with my BJ. I got a quote the other day to get them done for $800. I'm starting to think that i might give it a go myself.
