Opinion - Safari Dtronic GU 3.0 TD

Post by patrolmad »

I have a 2004 GUIII 3.0 turbo diesel Patrol and am interested in fitting a Dtronic. I would appreciate the honest opinion of anyone who has one fitted to their ZD30 and what their thoughts are.

Every post I have read on the subject reckons they are good and have improved the low down torque.

The dtronic is simply awesome. Has transformed the vehicle, towing is better, less turbo lag and fuel consumption in the mid 12's. Buy one!

Have heard a few bad reports on the dtronic like dashlights coming on, radio intereferance, and other problems with engine and lack of performance, also some posts about this on other forums. I'd go with a Tunit instead. They seems to be getting a good rep from everytone Ive spoken to. ARB city southern are now fitting them and 4wd megastores have got them too I think.
Cheers

The posts are on overlander...and explore oz...do a search.
That article was written by the guys at dtronic who host and run that lcool group, so I dont know how unbiased it would be.

I have recently fitted a Tunit to my GU 3.0 and although complex to install, I am extremely happy with the results I am running 35" MTR's and with the Tunit installed the heavy wagon has no trouble bagging the tyres on the bitumen. The 3.0 will never be over powered even with the Tunit instaled but It has transformed the wagon into a pleasurable ride with above average torque which is very noticable when overtaking and on steep hills and offroad it is awsome and will give my GQ petrol ute a run for its money.

I highly recomend the tunit because it is fully adjustable and it works
( yes I have played with the settings and it does make a big difference) and it is probably the best thing I have installed on the 3.0 and it represents value for money.(who wants a 4.2, not me).
