Hey people, I have a 2L sigma engine in my project car and on the way home from my last trip I noticed the oil pressure guage shows no pressure, I checked the dipstick and its showing oil so was wondering how to figure out if its just the wires in the dash or perhaps the oil pump has blown.. any suggestions?
Cheers
Paul

a oil sender
b gauge
c no oil presure
d wiring
is it nocking/ratteling?
1 park on grass or road or next door nebours yard.
2 pull oil prsure sender out
3 turn motor over a few times (switch off it motor starts)
4 check... there will be oil everywhere (should b)
5 steem clean engen/every thing that is coerd in oil
6 replace oil cender.
actualy set up a vid camera so we can watch the mess unfold

You can either do what was suggested above but you really should check oil pressure with an oil pressure gauge .
If its very rattly its fair to assume there is no oil pressure.
Things to look for, blocked oil pickup (common if there has been few oil chaneges), faulty oil pump, sludging of the oil galleries & if it is an Astron engine the oil pump is driven by the balance shaft chain which has a habit of breaking if not adjusted frequently.
Either way you will have to do a major strip to find the problem.
If it has oil pressure then the problem will be with the gauge or what operates it.

No they ain't, I'm just in front...............

it could be simple as. u probably have a mech pressure gauge, which just has a clear line coming from the gauge in to the eng block, that way it rules out any electrical fault or sender prob, check the line if its clear when eng is running, it should have solid oil content as to tell u that its sealed and sending full correct pressure to gauge, ne air pockets could indicate leak in line or fittings which may be whats causing faulty gauge reading.
hope u got a mech gauge cause a new one cost $20 and consists of a gauge a line n no rocket science to fit. hope this helps
