suzuki + Unimog 404 = ???

Post by Gutless »

I have ordered a 1971 Unimog 404 coil sprung rolling chassis from germany. It arrives in a couple of months.

It doesn't have a cab as such, so I was tinking of whacking the zook ute cab on.

Whats everyone think?

Also gonna chuck a M110 merc motor in ( 185HP) and get rid of the 2.2 carby crap (80HP) so I can hit 120kph on 46" road rubber

Well if you don't mind spending a little more you can do it in fibreglass. Have a look here.

Would be awesome. With a unimog chassis it could be registered as a body swap.
Out of interest how much does it cost to get a mog from germany?

why wouldn't you do this? The unimog was designed to drive just about any terrain you can throw at it.

people spend heaps and heaps on their rigs for comps, if the mog was the answer, people would pay for it.

yes, however i'm also thinking non-outlaw/open class comps...i.e winch challenge, short course, gymkana sort of stuff.

I'm not trying to be negative at all, sorry.

But wouldn't it be too big, slow and heavy for any of those comps?

Mogrover is a RR chassis / LR body with Mog axles...
So its had a body swap but no mog chassis.

if it had 37's on it, then it could go into a which challenge, as it is a production vehicle.

edit: but in the xwc rules your not allowed to have portal axles. so this would be a problem. but having the argument that the vehicle came standard with them would help.

if it had the right motor it would not be too slow, 350, with twin turbos, the combos are endless. why not a 454 with twins. or blower out the top.

it would be a rather large car to move through a winch challenge, bit like the hummer that competed.

but a LWB zook with an sr20det and mq's under it would be perfect.

enjoy ashley

May be unbreakable, but everyone else will be doing circles around it with their zukes because it won't be any more capable than a farmers tractor offroad.

uni mogs are sweet machines, we had one in at work from the army, stock as, and could do all things a zook could, and even more. i dont think he is goin to keep it completly stock, im sure he is goin to do some mods, cause u dont need to do anything to a uni mog to make them really really good, cause they are already very very good.
zook comming soon......
