front hub on mk

the front left hand hub makes a a strange rattle when its locked and it only does it at 20km or over and when i slow down it goes away
and when i unlock the hub as well and this all happens in two wheel drive as well as 4wd plz help thanks

jack the wheel up, try to wobble the wheel up and down.....

mate it sounds like wheel bearings.

35in tyres and 4x4 action see the wheel bearings come lose all the time.

I used to adjust them after every couple of trips to ensure they didn't bugger up to early. Eveb new lock washers wouldn't stop them coming loose enough to cause issues.

Ask Screwy mentioned jack the front left end grab the wheel at 12 and 6 and see if it has any movement and if soo wheel bearings will need to be adjusted......if they are clicking it is time for new bearing as well.....

if your using auto hubs. the bearings have eaten thru the housing. ul be lookng for new ones soon. same thing happend to me and cud not find the bearings so i went manual hubs.

when you dissasemble your front axles to replace the bearings. you might as well service the auto hubs as well.
