80 Series Diffs in a SWB Vitara
80 Series Diffs in a SWB Vitara
Does anyone know if you could get this engineered? Would the chassis be strong enough?
If ya want a 4x4 camry go ahead & buy a Patrol or Cruiser.
Rangie with 80s LC diffs, Isuzu 4bd1, Twin ARB lockers, 8000lb Hi mount warn, 315x75x16 Procomp XTerrains
why not go with the usual hilux diff swap? that would be plenty strong enough.
unless you are planning on running 44" boggers or something.
if your'e going 80 series diffs, why not go bigger and put unimog diffs under it?

how are they for offset, will they line up with transfer case and clear the engine. Anything is possible but I'd imagine it would involve a lot of work and $$$ to get it properly done and engineered. They will be awfully wide for a vitara so there are all the worries about tyre clearance with the body work etc which means a big lift as I imagine the whole point of this is to run big tyres. What are you planning?

offset diff centres
Good point Grimbo, I didnt think of that one. Cruiser diffs are offset to the drivers side are they not?
Vitara is drivers side offset front, centred rear.
In this case hilux diffs might be a better choice.

Wendle wrote:The vitara rear diff is already wider than A hilux Diff, I believe about 100mm?? (hence the very large backspace to the standard rims) so 80 series diffs are probably about the same?
Then again a stock vitara rim isn'r goingto fit on an 80 series axle, so it is neither here nor there
Vitara is wider than 80 series by 100mm? That's make a 80/Lux diff about the same as a widetrack sierra diff. R u sure about this? I think we need to get some WMS measurements for each and compare. I'm pretty interested in these figures regardless.
