Hilux Turbo Diesel Overheating 1KZ-TE
2002 3L TD Dual cab 1KZ-TE
While driving home today from camping(lightly loaded with aproxx 600Kg Camper),
the temp gauge was basicly going up and down like a yo-yo.
As soon as I hit any hills of any reasonabe length, the engine temp crept from 1/2 way on
the gauge to the red line.
It seems that as soon as the engine was asked to work, the temp climbed.
Coolant looks nice and red. No oil evident and no bubbles. Levels in the radiator and
overflow tank are fine.
I have only had this vehicle for three months and this was the first time I have towed with it.
This can't be normal can it?
Any ideas?

Check the easy things 1st thermostat,fan,radiator if under normal load it stays cool but under harder conditions it doesn't it has to be 1 of the above probs if timing and fuel mixture is correct !!! could also be a hose collapsing!!!
local or import? how many km? does it smoke noticably under load? do you have boost and EGT gauges fitted? it is common for small, indirect injected engines with higher km to run hot under load because they overfuel very easily. It's not a great towing motor to start with, don't expect too much from it.
