koni shocks

does anyone run koni shocks on there rigs. i have a 4inch lift shortie GQ and was woundering what people think of them? last Q what lenght should i run. a part number would nice if anyone has them.

I dont run them ,but they do have an excellent reputation. You ll have to measure your open and closed shock lengths and go from there. Im pretty sure you ll need shocks from an 80 series because they re longer.

Can't help you with the technical side, but I run them on 2" lift GU wagon. Can't wait to replace them with the big bore Tough Dog adjustables. The ride is fairly rugged offroad, so want to be able to soften it up a bit ;)

Konis are adjustable.

I run Koni's on my GU Wagon - great ride (I didn't set them to hard - only about 1.5 turns from memory).

They are expensive, but then again fully serviceable at a reasonable price.

As for length, contact a Koni dealer - they should know. The guy I bought mine through here in Brisbane sets up rally cars and he certainly knew his stuff (he also rebuilds them).

i ran koni's on my MQ i snapped one in half and blew both rears so i havent had good experiences with them
GQ LWB TD42, boost, lockers etc

I can sell Koni's but I do not know too much about them. You wouldn't have trouble finding one to fit the front but I think you would have trouble finding one the right length for the rear. I can ask to be sure. You might be able to find someone to weld an eye on a shock for you.

You a probably better of saving your money and buying Procomps or Dobinsons. Another option is the Procomp MX6 adjustable if you are desperate for adjustable stuff. Not quite as reliable as your trusty non adjustable Procomps but good none the less.

I have the 82 series Koni's in my GQ, with only a 2" lift. Couldn't be happier with them. In saying that i havn't gone offroad yet, but onroad, they made the car feel 100% better.

I also run koni's on my LWB GQ and couldn't be happier with them. I have a 3 inch lift and when the shock is at full extension, the rear coil is loose enough to move around but not loose enough to fall out, the perfect length.

I have the koni's on my 2 inch lifted GU ute. I have them set to about position 3. I hammered the crap out them last year on my trip through the Gulf/Kakadu/Gregory NP/ Gibb River /Mitchel falls/BungleBungles (13,500kms). No problems, no breaks, no leaks. They are a bit soft at the moment, but thats the way I want it anyway. Also I should mention that I have airbags inside the rears springs., and this helps a lot when carrying loads.

In my opinion you pay a bit extra for the koni's, but then again they are rebuildable.
