Just fitted today 2" Lift and 33's

Post by Captain Patrol »

G'day all, ive been searching on the forum for about 3 months now.

2 Months ago I brought a 94 GQ TD4.2 RX with 160 000 on the clock, owned by a ganpar. Good buy I for under $16 000 in my books.

Last week I got it Bogged doing the border track on the way back down to SA and had to be pulled out by a Hilux. I know sad.

So as of this Morning I have had a OME 2" lift kit fitted(Shocks and Springs), I brought some Coopers ST 33x12.5 (got a good deal 5 Tyres and rims brand new off a Rolled MQ, still with nipples on the tyres) and got the Rims Painted Black!!!

My Patrol has been re-born and I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Just had to share the joy that I now have a kick ass, tough as nails GQ...... Woohoo Bring ont he mud!!

Will Post some Pics tomorrow!!

Captain!!

ha ha that's it your hooked now. I give it 12 months max and you will have more aggressive 35's and a 3 inch lift +

I to had this dilemma when I first bought my shorty back in the day. I thought hmmm I should just get a 2' lift to start, then if I get more serious I can lift it higher.....then my evil side said "naaahh fark it, lift it all the way up now....doooo it". I like listening to my evil side, it knows best :D

Tell me if I'm off the rails here but I was thinking I'd go 33" MTRs (already got) and 3" lift (getting) now.

I think it's likely I'll want 35s down the track but I'll need new diff gears then, and I was thinking that I could just add an inch of body lift and/or a bit of guard chop if necessary to fit the bigger tyres.

The point being that I'm not wasting my money by just doing a 3" lift now (or soon)...

Does this make sense?

3" suspension lift is much cheaper, handle and tow better than say 4 or 5" of lift which you would need for 35"s. Leave it as that and if in a later date chuck in a 2" body lift and then 35"s.

Its so easy to get hooked

Got my stock, 1 year later it had a 2" suspension lift and 33" tyres, 6 months after that, it got a 2" body lift.

Next week it gets a 6" suspension lift and the 35" tyres perminantly installed onto it.

After that its putting Fuel Injection onto it with LPG.

after that, maybe a front Locker, but not sure on that one, haven't come across anything here that i can't get up with the front diff open.
