either one, just curious at ideas for my buggy.
It has a hilux rear diff,
just wondering what factory parts can be used in the conversion?
Then i guess it's just a matter of fabricating a bracket, that bolts onto the 4 exisitng holes for the drum backing plate, to hold the caliper.

You can use front rotors but not the calipers.Pretty sure you can use std front calipers and rotors...
The calipers need to be floating calipers as Hilux rear end has movement in the axles.
Best Caliper is the subaru front , off a leone.(but get the later leone so you can run front vented rotors)
Early leone will only allow front solid rotors to be used.
There is a bit of machine work.
Early model lux axles need spigot ring made to centre rotor on axle.
Late model lux axles need rotor ID increased to spigot onto axle.
Both axle OD flange need machining down so rotor will fit over.
Then there is the M/C.
Will have to run a 1" bore disc/disc M/C of an 80 series Cruiser.
The hilux Disc/Drum M/c can not cope with the extra fluid required as does not have an internal residual pressure valve.
Then you have fab up the caliper brackets.
Do a Search you will find heaps of info on rear disk conversions

This may sound like a stupid question to all you smart ppl out there. Everyone keeps saying to use subaru front calipers for the rear end of the Bundys and Hiluxs and then having to play with portion valves etc. What is wrong with using the entire setup of a singular vehicle for the whole brake system? For example using the front and rear discs and calipers and booster from a Commodre? I realize this particular example prolly wont fit without alot of mucking around but something similar perhaps.

Yea but depends how much your into your wheelin .with the handbreak on the rear you can use that to an advantage in situations ans the T/case mounted you can`t do much withV6 Bundy wrote:wouldn't a transfer case brake replace that?
