Tailshaft Issue
Just noticed that my rear tail shaft on my 96 Lux is showing half an inch of the spline while sitting on flat ground. Is that normal or should you see no spline on a 2 piece shaft?
What are the options and dollars to rectify this apart from getting a new tailshaft? Spacer? Shaft from a diff model?
I did a search and think i read about a double cardinal joint will extend it somewhat?
Anyone on here make spacers if this is the way out?

ahhh you moved the diff back so your shaft is extended
it looks to be a long way out so a tailshaft extension looks to be the answer or a spacer as you said
measure where it was siting before and space it or lengthen it to the original resting position and problem solved hope ya liked the joke

If its the standard shaft (which it looks like) then no it doesnt have a double cardan joint, it has a centre bearing.
This is what a double cardan looks like...

on yours you can see the centre bearing joining the 2 piece shaft.
I havent had any probs with my tail shaft since swapping IFS rears in and its extended about 20mm, though none of the spline is showing.

Where from?? and is it the same length as the std 2 piece one. Thinking of doing the same sort of thing.........whiteknight wrote:Wokred out my tailshaft dilema.
As from the pics you can see i needed an extra 3 inches or so. Picked up a one piece shaft from an old 4 speed Hilux for $50 that fit perfectly just had to change the flanges on each end.
Just thought I'd let yas know in case anyone else is in the same boat..

Its slightly longer than a std 2 piece I am not sure if it would fit if you havent done the IFS rears mod , might fit if you have a fair bit of lift best bet is to just measure it up..
