New rules

NO SPOA allowed (unless factory)
suspension height not allowed to be any higher or lower than 1/3 the original bump stop gap measurement.
tyres rolling diameter not allowed to be any more than 15mm larger than factory specs..
no widening of wheel track.

SOME OUTS ARE

leaf to coil conversion using later model diffs IE: GQ into MQ or 80 series into 60 series etc giving wider track and lift.

anyone with approved mods are ok. Thats gotta make my truck worth more

I've got a feeling even with those laws police will still turn a blind eye for most of em.

Its not the police you need to worry about. Try having an accident causing death/injury or even damage to another vehicle. Even if its not your fault you will still be at fault because your not road legal therefore unregistered.

A mate of mine went to put in a modification application the other day and got told about the new laws and was told no way it would be approved.

any modification that takes a vehicle from factory specs needs to be approved by transport tasmania and a modification plate issued.

That's the least of your worries - your insurance won't pay for the damage/injuries your 4x4 has caused to other vehicles/property - regardless of whether the mods were related to the accident.
