Snorkel Install on Hilux

Post by @cer »

Hey guys,

Im in the process of fitting a Safari Snorkel to my LN106R 2.8D Hilux and have hit some problems.

Firstly, does anybody have a template for where to drill the holes?

Secondly, I have taken the left front guard off the car and behind it is a steal tank looking thing which has a small hose which runs into the air intake hose which is already on the car. What is this? Can it be removed? Does it need to be put back or modified? If so, what do I do about it?

Thanks guys appreciate the help heaps.

Does you Lux have push button high range? if so, that steel tank thing would be the vacuum reserve tank for the ADD (push button high range)
Cheers,
Dan.

to do a snorkel its better to have the guard on the car ,thats how the fitters do it anyway ,
your better to paint where the holes have been cut than use the rust proofing shit they give u too as it eventually washes off

Template

Not sure on the tank in the guard, but with the template, i just rang tjm (as mine is an airtec) and they sent me one out in the mail. Yours being safari, just find the biggest wholesaler closest to you and give them the serial number on the snorkel and they should send you one out.

Good Luck

do the install on the car

easiest way to drill the smaller holes is with a step drill, and most installers would throw the temps out after fitting so you might need to call safari direct..

ill check my toolbox, i may still have one in tha back somewhere?

""UPDATE""

I removed the tank and it seems like it is some form of tank which is used as an overflow point in the air intake system incase water is sucked in... The tank has a drainage pipe on the bottom of it so the water drained from the air intake tube is then able to drain from the tank...

Sound like it?

yea, and it would have a weird foam at each end to dodgily seal it?????

you should use a small amount of silicon to seal the snorkel properly and silicon up th drain hole in the airbox.. it gets messy!
