Are JT'2 Legal?

I want some and insurace company said they dont care what size or type of tyre i get as long as its legal.

I just want to know if they are legal?

Going on a 2" Lifted 105series(Beam Front end)

tubeless, but i run tubes in the front due to popping beads at under 20psi.

The size of tyre also affects whether or not the tyre is "legal" A 265/75-16 JT2 is almost certainly legal for your Cruiser.

A 34" JT2 will almost certainly require engineering approval to be "legal."

This is a common question here. I suggest you peruse the various bibles for tyre info.

AS far as my engineer was concerned.... they were speed and load rated, and he specified the JT2 onto my engineering cert specifically. AFAIK the 35" and under Simexs are all legal. I dont know either way about the 36 though.

how about asking an engineer who can then sign off on the tyres, then the responsibility is on them not you. :D

they may not be legal on size but as far as for road use they are.
This exact question was asked in an e-mail group i'm in some time ago and as i had JT2's i emailed Chris Hummer at simex. Below is his response.

Matt
The Jungle Trekker 2 tyres, do meet ADR compliance. Therefore, are a legal
fitment. The only problem will occur when your diameter is increased over
the Vicroads roadworthy limits. or you fit any brand of tyre with a lower
load rating. Jungle trekker 2 has some of the highest load ratings around
and easily fits most vehicles.

All simex Jungle Trekker 2 and Extreme trekker tyres have load/speed ratings
which are required for Australian compliance and fitment to your vehicle.
"E" markings are also included to comply in Europe . Some tyres have a DOT
compliance which only relates to the USA.
