FJ45 + v6 engine???
Hello,
I'm looking around for some information on v6 conversions to FJ45s, I noticed on Marks 4WD Adapters site that there were no V6 conversion for Fj45 and I was curious if there has been any v6 conversion(Commodore engine + auto box?) since I was thinking of going Hilux and I would prefer to drive something bigger and tough so I thought of FJ45 which would be a good option for my first 4wd.
Also has there been any Holden 253 + autobox conversions on FJ45s? If there has, how much does it cost to do a complete conversion using 253 engine.

Pat's v6 conversions (Moree?) do a V6 to turbo Bundera box which uses same split t case as 40 series but has different outer case to it I think, same for Dellow and CRS. I thought Marks did ada[ptor for the V6 auto to cruiser t case? Since Mark's own bundera has v6 in it.
edit: so if you were to sourve Bundera t case u should be able to put auto in.

Hilux diff centres (rear is offset), Hilux gearbox (G52) on petrol motors, R151 5 speed on turbo diesel, all have split transfer case (cruiser) but with lower gearing and unique case.

That’s what I’m thinking. Cant see why you cant use the auto out of the commie, and then a split t-case out of a later 40, or 60, which shouldn’t be an issue. And why wouldn’t a V6 have the torque? V6 commie motor should chit all over a cast iron block 2f (despite the ease of keeping a 2f in there). + have the added advantage of being lighter, and with far more parts available if you bust one.

Wondering that myself, the v6 commodore motor has pretty much alot of grunt.

2f is 294nm 1800 at rpm.

LS 1's are more current version of the old 350 chev, all alloy, and can be had under 3 grand for a bare engine. All the accessories from the old chevs bolt straight onto them, and lots of cheap bits on ebay. They are supposed to be economical for their size but no figures available (except I know US corvette's get <10L/ 100km)

The main price difference between the new and old engine (seeing as rest of bolt up bits are the same). Put roller rockers, electronic ignition and a few other bits on an old reco 350 and you will prolly have spent more than LS1 second hand.

You can buy a 350 with all the bits on it from under $1000. Or I have seen them advertised in mags fully rebuilt from around $1500 complete with all acess.
On top of that even if you had to pay an auto elec to wire these motors the 350 is going to be cheaper

Mate I only JUST got my hilux re engineered and regoed after changing from desiel to injected V8. One of the first things the engineer looked at was the filler neck. It was also one of the first things the guy that did the blue slip looked at.
When I say just I mean just, it got re registered on the 4th of November and the engineer only looked at it one week before that. So this was only just over 1 month ago.

Im not trying to argue with you. I know that you have done everytjhing right on your truck to to make it totally legal.
Its just I didnt need to do it for mine. Was just trying to tick one of the things of the guys list.
