LED indicators DIY

Making me own indicators and brake tail lamps to fit inside the factory housings.

What can i do with the inidcators as if i understand they need to be certain wattage or the flasher will be flashing faster then normal.

Basically doing the same as the jaycar plug in led globes but with no holders to rust out. keeping orig holders for ease of fitment.

You can buy a flasher relay that is not dependent on lamp resistance. Under $20, plugs straight in where the old one is.

Check that you have a problem with the existing flasher first though.

Supercheap if there's one near you. You are looking for a non-load sensitive flasher relay. They come with different numbers of pins so you will need to check what is currently in the vehicle also.

At present non of the LED type lights are as bright as conventional light globes in many lighting condition.

They tend to be very directional and this means that unless you are directly behind them, they are had to see.

You might want to do a few experiments with them before you go replacing your existing globes.

Yeah, I should have said that although you can solve the flashing speed problem with a different type of flasher relay, the LED tail lights, brake lights etc are pretty useless junk imho, and I wouldn't have them anywhere near my car.

The problem with the LEDs are that they are directional and dont make use of the lights reflectors, but there are now LED lights out there with additional LEDs the face rearwars so you get better use of the reflectors.
