my bundera just snapped a timing chain and its gona cos over a grand to get it fixed i need some help regarding a engin upgrade

does anyone know how easy it is 2 put a commador V6 into it i herd it is easy with an adaptor kit for the box can anyone give me more of an insite to it as i need to do it soon

should be easy enough, if that fails my mate has a unreg bundy he might be willin to part, as the rust finally got the better of it

I did the timing belt (diesel) in mine and destroyed the motor.

I did the v6 option but retained the manual (stronger box). Took a while for me to do due to $$$$ (student) and doing mostly myself. Also did lots of other things while I was going. But that didnt worry me as it is 2nd vehicle.

You should be impressed with the new found power if you do go this way.

I.M.P.O.S.E did it just bolt in then you used an adaptor kit to get it goin or wat cos i wont be doin it myself i need all the info so i can tell the person who is doin it wat teh hell to do. i plan to keep it manual with the box in a RJ70 hold up with the increase in power or will i start ripping gears n shit like that.

I used a Marks adaptor for the bellhousing to motor adaptor, plus their engine mounts and a sump (could make these yourself if you had equipment I guess)

Bolts in easy enough (im not a mechanic and I did ok with a little help from the right people) I then had a mate wire it up so that I could get it started and running to sort everything out and give it a tidy up. So it sounds likes you have a mechanic going to do it for you then they shouldnt have any dramas with it.

The commodore wiring was 'spliced' in where need and the rest was filed out in the 'big green filing cabinet'. Some things are a little dodgy, but over all it is still going well. It is getting a few kays behind it now.

Had no problems getting it engineered. The kit stuff helped here.

As for the gearbox I am unsure... If mine had been petrol I probably would have gone auto, but gears are to much fun I reckon. Others might have some information in regards to the strength of that gearbox.

Also, if using an auto, your adaptor to transfer is cheaper then the bellhousing one, you wont need a different clutch set-up, which require different starter motors and also flywheels. There is over $1000 in that alone.

does anyone know if it would be possible to put a 1JZ-GTE a 1992 twin turbo soarer engine with out doing any major work or spending big money on it??

Same steering wheel, that is about it :)
A bundy has a shorter nose than a 75/78 (4cyl v 6cyl),
different gearbox,
smaller diff,
are you getting the idea?
you can do anything you want if you have the resorces ($$$/time/skill),
there are plenty of threads here about diferent conversions have a look around.

cruiser gearbox, 350 chev and 60 series diffs is the way to go

you could possibly put your bundy body onto say a rusty swb 70's chassis and running gear :)

I asked the question a while ago and got a good response have a search for it there is some good info in there, a few people on here have done jap import conversions (1ggte etc....) ask skip i think he has done a 1 JZ conversion on his bundy, if your not going to do the conversion yourself be prepared to start forking out its not cheap, thats why I bought a wrangler instead ;)
