can anyone tell me what size the bolt with the crank handle dog is ie socket size ? I think it was 1 5/16 but i'm not sure and i wil have to buy one the right size.

you're right on the money,1 5/16" deep socket.a standard socket won't clear the starter dog.

Havent got one yet, but Merrigans ? down on para rd should have one.

Havent got one yet, but Merrigans ? down on para rd should have one.

Most likely Wednesday i would say. Didnt you get another engine for yours ?

Yeah im in the process of swapping the old timing cover onto the 3.9 so the inlet manifold hoses matches up with the new water pump. Cant get the old timing cover off with out that socket. Its all coming along thou slowly. Will be nice to have some extra poke. :D

How did you go steve ? I ended up locktiting and rattle gunning mine back on but i will get the other balancer off the other rangie just it case it lets go again so will need to get a big socket still.

I went out and spent $23 on a socket and gave it to my mate who is doing most of the engine work for me and he said that it didnt quite fit! (thanks guys) Anyway he tells me he got it off and the 3.9 doesnt have a starter dog so were right to use a normal socket on that one. Couple of days and she should be running hopefully for a blast out to Toolangi on the sunday to see how it feels.

Loan i went to Merigans and had no luck but i rang around most total tools and Epping had what i wanted! Although u might wanna check the size yourself!
