gu arb bull bar (dozer blade!)

Hey all, ive got a 00 gu coil cab and it has a arb deluxe bar, it looks good, it works, but every time i go off road it works like a nice big dozer blade and digs in the ground going through big holes, i just put 7" springs and 1" spacers in and thought that doing that would have stopped it (previously i was running 2" lift ) but after going bush on the weekend its still does, although it takes a bigger hole to hit on so now im looking into some thing different to get a better approach angle

Does any one know of any other winch bars that dont stick out as far?

other option is a custom bar but i dont really like the look of tube bars on gu's so does any one have some photos of preferably a non tube style custom bar on a gu but any custom bar so i can have a look and get some ideas to make some thing or buy some thing

Ive been thinking the same thing, I have a Standard nissan winch bar modified to fit a highmount, It hits the ground regularly. I want to keep this style of bar for the long country kays I do with the wildlife.

I was thinking of cutting the chassis brackets on the same angle as the angled bits of the wings. Then lifting the winch and basically making a new centre bit between the chassis rails, I should gain about 3-4 inches clearance from what I have at the moment. Im just waiting until I am in Melbourne where my mate has a plasma cutter. Since the cost of a tube bar is around $1000+ and my current bar is worth $300 or less, I figure I cant loose by cutting it up.

Here's a link to my truck. It has a tube bar on it, but you may get some ideas out of it.

You should be able to cut the side wing of the ARB bar for better clearance to run your tyres up over things.
If the bar is hitting the ground you may need to slow down a bit so the suspension doesn't compress too much.

its not really the wings that are the problem, its the centre section, it sits out from the car too far and just ploughs the ground and fills up with mud and gets you caught up in a hole, even driving in to the holes slowly

mates with cars that dont have bars and have a better approach angle can drive the holes im getting stuck in no worries at all and do it flat out too
