Gearbox Problem

Post by rojak »

This morn I took off from the lights and when changing form 1st to 2nd, I heard a clunk from the bottom of the gear stick, then the gearstick became sloppy and when changing gears, it feels and sounds notchy. The stick is really loose. Its the same in 1 - 4 but haven't tried 5 and reverse appears(?) ok.

Apart from this it goes into gear ok (so far) :?

Can anyone suggest what I may have broken or whats causing this.

Thanx

The stick rolls on a ball which is supported by a round tapered disc...bet that has broken...common.

There are 2 pins that locate the gearstick and the retaining cup thingo.
The pins in mine have work and are loose - my stick is sloppy and notchy and a bit of a pain to get in and out of gear... Hoping I can tap the holes where the pins are and get a couple of bolts in there to hold it firm again..

may be the same, maybe not..
