MQ spring info
MQ spring info
hi, me and the old man started a bit of work on his mq 2day. we fitted his front OME dakar 2 inch springs and what a pain in the ass it was. we,ve fitted plenty of springs before but this was just a pain. now the question i have is has anyone fitted these to their own or even another brand and had troubles because on the back end of the spring the military wrap on the spring goes up inside the mount and hits on the chassis just sitting on flat ground. therefor it will hit or bend when flexing. any ideas would be great
this has been discussed on here before, ill try and find the link for ya,

My mate and I ordered new springs from Westcoast suspension, mine for an MK, his for a MQ, they arrived looking same except for the straps holding them together, mine cleared but close, his did not clear at all, I think he grinded a bit off his to get them to fit, there was no way they were gonna fit.

question? do you mean to say that the springs of the MQ and MK are different? In what way?Hoppy11 wrote:My mate and I ordered new springs from Westcoast suspension, mine for an MK, his for a MQ, they arrived looking same except for the straps holding them together, mine cleared but close, his did not clear at all, I think he grinded a bit off his to get them to fit, there was no way they were gonna fit.

MK sprinngs are the same width and length in total...
its only right up at the mounts..... because the MKs have offset shackles rather than straight ones
when i fitted the IFS lux rear springs in the front of mine, i had trouble getting them in the mounts on the front ( reverse shackle ), shackle end was easy as i made the shackles as well.....
but all i did is grind a nib off the end of the second leave ( the one that was hitting ), had them in months now, heavy offroad and comp use and no dramas with them.
just slice them alittle.
