a little scary at first, this was my first shave

i only had limited tools, a nine inch grinder and a welder. and these were loners.
probably could have gained a little more clearance, if i had taken more time and risked the chance of leaks.
the first thing is to cut a hole, so measurements can be taken for the crown wheel.

side on

i then tac welded the plate on. then bolted up a diff head to help hold the mating surface flat, as i try'd to weld.

as you can see it's now a little flatter and smoother

in the end i only gained about an inch of ground clearance. but now there is no big drain bung hanging down, trying to hold on to every edge and ledge.

i'm stoked
