CBR you have been saying this for the last two years.... and I still haven't even seen a progress picture. You are one driver I'll be excited to watch ;) So you better make this a target

If its is ready I will be competing in the three later comps (not the first winch chalenge) Maybe we should team up if either of us gets our shit together lol.

Ok spoke to Alan this evening he will have a lot of info posted up on the web this weekend but as for what he told me for the winch event you will drive up to a set point then have to winch your way through the rest you can drive but only at the speed of your winch so if the cable gets loose you will be penilised. He wants to run 5 different tracks all at once.Sounds like a couple of Outback Challenge cars will be competing for a shake down run before heading over east .

I told Alan that everyone wants to no what the tyre size will be and classes so he said he will post up very soon as i explained that some people are hanging of building cars as they dont no what the rules are. Also got our point across and he agreed that Aclass might have to be what C class used to be then work up from there.

There very well looks like a busy bee to be held on the long weekend of March so if you can help out be there Alan has already marked out the winch challenge course

Yea I know it has been a long time coming.

I have just chopped the 4runner in to a ute and am doing a coil rear end suspension.

The pic below is as it stands as of last week.

I thought the first comp is in June :?: if the first comp is April then I might not make it. Will have to see

which OBC cars are running in it? That is going to be boring if you have to sit there and get your winch to pull you around the course. Is this correct? Where's the fun in that? :?: :?:

Not sure who the Out back Challenge cars are all Alan said was a GQ was up here in Perth get lots of work done had kevlar pannels owners are from Esperance .As for the winch event hes looking at your skills as to being able to drive to your winch speed to take the load of your winch he didnt want some one to just charge the hill and tear it up for everyonr else. But as my spotter pointed out to me events over east you get bounce points if you can drive a winch section maybe thats the way to go dont no as its Alans event and he will run it as he sees fit

dont know im still trying to figure it out, dosent sound very intresting to me either. I still dont see why it is a team event either if all comps are linked to find a individual winner??? but atleast some ones putting in the effort and alot of there spare time to get it all going.

By no stretch of the imagination am i baging Alan for what he is doing. I'm all for conpetioins in WA. I just dont understand the format. Doesnt make sense. The way I understood what duncan was saying is that you have to compulsory winch the whole stage (am i wrong?). You should still be able to have a crack at driving the obsticles, one attempt only, once you stop you winch. The bonus is if you drive it your stage time will be alot less.
Ausyota, I am well aware of how a winch challenge works. Ithink you missed what i was trying to say.

I agree guys my personal favorite would be to drive as far as you can one go only then have to winch.I think hes running a 2 car team in only the winch challenge to try to make it farer across the board as your second car might not be as capable as the first it also gets people working together never an easy thing you could get the 2 most capable cars that work piss all over everyone else but guye who cant comunicate with each other or drive to the speed of their winches brings them back to the rest of the feild would also be funny to see a few dummy spits out on the course with lots of yelling.

I did mention to Alan about running cars in the actual championship just by them selves not as a team and he said he would seriously think about it as the nomination forms dont list a team just one car Alan said more details would be posted up this weekend on the web site.

Remember that at scrutineering you need to bring your first aid kit all your recovery gear and also have your fire extingwisher mounted and comp tyres on the car well this is as i read the info on the web site.

More cars the better if we the drivers show good suport this year even if it dosent turn out quite right there may be more sponsers for next year and then the comp will grow can only get better

Its up to all of us to give it a go & do what we can to
make it work, other wise there wont be any comps at all!!!!!
That would be a real bummer.....
Organizers are never going to be able to keep everyone
happy so lets go with the flow & help when we can....

cheers Jeff

Sorry off topic, this car belongs to Ash and his navi is Adrian from here. The guy doing the work on his car has an awesome 'Baja' style buggy. When I find his details I will post them up.

Guys just some answers to questions that Ipassed onto Alan that he has sent back

All competitors including navigators must be members of a club for insurance

Fiber glass roofed cars dont need to wear helmets so long as roof is properly fitted also they dont need a roll cage

All events are not timed as this would cost more for insurance

You need to enter as a team not go looking for a second vehicle on the day

Championship is a teams event and you have to self recover vehicles

Alan is not going to worry about listing who is competing so there will be no info on the Night owl web page as to who are the enterants

Hope this helps some of you guys out i went onto the web sight this morning and it still isnt updated I believe Alan is passing the info onto who ever is running the web site but their just not up dating it
