Hi all ive never competed in any event but me and my mates would luv to . the scary thing is that the classes as i see the are not fair but thats the way it is . me and my mates have disscussed this a few times we are 4wders and we love it . i my self have been member and committe member off a club for the last 4 years . so im not a spring chicken to 4wding and my actual trade i have been involved in driving and recovering 4x4s for at least 10 years if not more but its unerving to think bout entering cause our rigs ar all modifid but not to the standard of the top class and that would be the class we would be put in . and we dont expect to be put in stocko class eathier . mabye a suggestion . how about 4 classes novice stock , novice mod , pro stock , pro mod. just use same tracks or similar close by and the points are awarded as per class i think its like the logan nite runs u know 100pt hill, 50 pt hill , 20 pt chicken track and so forth. its les daunting than going up against full comp rigs that walk over every thing and as much u say its judged on skills , and car and team work still me doing a loop in 15 minutes and on of the session cop guys doing it in 5 mins whos gunna win do the math . thatss my say i dont care if u takit on board its only a suggestion .

thanks for this moment hope i dont bore u

I have competed in 2 logan challenges now and have had an absolute ball both times and look forward to this years with nervous anticipation :)

Both the teams I have been involved with were made up of comp level vehicles and both years we finished in the top 10 or close to it. BUT we were also beaten by teams with vehicles that were by no means as capable or "BIG" as ours.

I guess what it all boils down to is going away with a grop of 4x4 mates and having a go, if you finish up there that's a good thing if you don't its still good cause you all had a go and had fun doing it......

Too true Andy. I have done 3 now and the 1st year we got our butts kicked and came dead last but had fun. 2004 we came back determined to do better and pulled a 3rd and 2005 got a 4th. And our cars are pretty standard with only 2" spring lifts and 33's. Albiet all with double lockers and winches. But the main thing is good team work, enjoy yourself and get out there and have a go.

We all have to start somewhere and there is some great comradery between all the competitors.

Jamie in the Logan Challenge we have no classes. Actually it is set up for every type of 4wd. From stock unlocked zuks on 33's to double locked cruisers and patrols with winchs and all the other gear you could think of.

Even though it has alot of driving it is not not a based all around driving skills. The comp is set around every thing that could go wrong on a big trip. We put you in sticky situations and then you figure out how to get out them. Like rebuilding diffs, bandaging some one up and putting them on a stretcher you make yourself. There is a bit of everything, I think thats why everyone has alot of fun in this event.

Whats a qualified person?? How do you deem them qualified to scrutineer??

Not that it should matter but my head scrutineer will be a mechanic.

Did you feel scrutineering was note up to standard in previous years?? This is the kind of stuff I want to know.
i have an idea to put forward do pre scruntineering at pre determind places a week b4 and left overs on the day b4 comp . surley there is enuff mechanics and ppl from 4wd industry that could help have say a nth side meeting spot one nite sth side another that way there been passed . and it gives them time to fix problem and if they dont pass on the day of the scruntineering at the comp no start . u could tag the rig some how and if its not there at registaton time at the comp no start.

i think i would work . id be happy to get it over and done with . beeter things to do on the comp day i reckon.

Any news yet on where it will be held? If it's too far away our mum's may not lend us there tyre's this year. We might have to drop back to 32's to give you a chance Johnny lol, but where ever it is we will be staying the night so you might want to camp close so you don't have to far to stagger back to camp.

Hmmm might have to come up with some good drinking games lol.

I should be able to confirm by the end of the week. After a committee meeting and talking to the park owners again.

Yes it is. Just got of the phone with Heidi to confirm it all. I am going down there in a few weeks to sort out some finer details and look at tracks for the driving events.

The dates will still be 14th and 15th of October.

This year and more so in the future roll over protection will be looked at closer. I want to make sure that 4wds that need protection for obvious reasons have that and it is up to a certain standard. Plus every competitor will be wearing a helmet.

There is not going to be a mechanic doing a road worthy on your car.

i hope you are not putting your car in emo it would not ha ha ha :finger: :finger:  :D   :P

I went out to Rover Park on Saturday with Rhys (logan president) to go through finer details with Hans and Heidi and start looking for tracks.

Hans and Heidi are great people and are going to help the club make this a great event.

There is whole new committe organising the challenge to make it bigger and better this year.

how much bigger? How much better?

Rover park is pretty big and has alot of tracks but not many really chalenging (yet)....
Are you gonna be makin sum new tracks? Are you gonna utilise the course (auditorium) area that was created/used for werock and PUOSU ? ? ?

Either way i def hope to be there... even if i have to borrow tyres :D

It is a team event consisiting of five cars per team in an all terrain event with some stages needing the use of outback survival skills. So its not all driving and you don't need the most comp proven trucks in your team to win.

Probably wont use that puosu area. Its not that kind of comp.

In the bigger way your thinking I may just have that worked out for you. ;)
