Fourbys 2006 Logan Challenge
Time to get the ball rolling for this years logan challenge.
I have taken over this year from Julie and Simon. They have done a great job the last couple of years but want to have a go at competing this year.
At this point in time the date will be similar. Between Bathurst and Indy 14th and 15th of October.
I am yet to 100% confirm the venue, have to talk to one other park to make up my mind. But it will not be at Black Duck.
The format will stay pretty similar. May make a couple of small changes. But it will still be outback survival skills in a 5 car team. I don't want to move away from what the comp is about but just to spice it up a bit.
If any past competitors have any suggestions to make please do so. Anything you think we can improve on or should change.
I will not be accepting any entrys at this time. I will announce when entries will be accepted.

Not that it should matter but my head scrutineer will be a mechanic.

I think the reason for scrutinnrering being so important is so no-one turns up in some beat up old deathtrap and injures/kills themselves/others because their vehicle was not safe.
AND no matter what....IT will ALWAYS come back on the event organiser/s, no event organiser is safe if they want to rely on competitors to ensure their own safety of their vehicles.
If that is the way its played, it will only be a matter of time before someone gets sued.
dan, IMHO, I think that all vehicles should be checked, if the vehicles are safe/secure/not dodgy etc then the drivers will have nothing to worry about , and then it can't come back and bite you in the ass (as much ).

The scrutineering happened at about 8 oclock at night last time with a torch and much relying on driver honesty. This happened after we where all asked to have our cars there a day early.
I love the whole idea of a team challenge but nothing will get me back to this one after last years effort. If the competitors have to pull together as a team so should the organisers.
There was some very skewed judgement over the course of that weekend that made the tracks and the weather irrelevant.

These vehicle should all be road registered
5 cars to a team x 12 teams = 60 cars
@10 minutes a vehicle that make 6 hours with out a break for the scrutineer

Only reason im asking is because it seams you think that Tough Tracks are doing it the right way and Dan is going the wrong way about it.
I defianatly think it is better if someone with some qualifications has a look over the entire vehicle to make sure there is nothing that is going to be an obvious problem. Rather then just checking that they used grade 8 bolts to hold the recovery hook on.
What the fawk has that got do with anything. Since when did I say I was going to be running this event or any event....OH HANG ON....big fawkin surprise BUTTERCUP...I didn't

My experience is...I have seen many fawktards at events acting like dickheads in unsafe vehicles causing accidents, do I really need to go on.

All I wanted was some ideas on what previous competitors thought could be improved. Not to critisise on how you think I am going to run this comp. After I have run the comp and done something wrong then you can critisise.

In my own opinion..As a previous competitor and future one, I would like to see the scrutineering time/s sorted so as there is no long waits/silly time frames etc but still have each car checked.
This may not be able to be helped but it seems to be the main concern.
In my own opinion..i think the venue change will also benefit without the bikes

I want to further clarify what I am going to be hard on in the scrutineering area.
This year and more so in the future roll over protection will be looked at closer. I want to make sure that 4wds that need protection for obvious reasons have that and it is up to a certain standard. Plus every competitor will be wearing a helmet.
There is not going to be a mechanic doing a road worthy on your car.
