yes Mick is on boostcruising ... we took the car to the fast fours and rotaries jamboree today at Wilowbank for promotional purposes... all the turbo boys hung round the car gawking all day... pictures definitely dont do this thing justice..
i will try and get some more photos tomorrow as there has been a bit of progress on it since the last lot of photos were taken... the fuel system has been set up and run.. the floorpan finished and the firewall has been modified so the 6 inch dumper out of the turbo will fit.. there is another small fuel tank been fitted up front behind the drivers headlight, and the exhaust sytem has been finished with two of the best looking tailpipes ever at the back...twin 5 inch definitely looks tough....
this will run on different types of fuel but will run a lot on pump fuel (BP Ultimate) except obviously for the dyno comps where anything goes ( no fuel restrictions etc) and as far as reliability goes there hopefully shouldnt be any issues as the best of everything has been put into this .....one thing with an engine like this is its only a matter of having different tune maps in the computer so you can turn it down for the street, turn it up for the drags, dyno etc....you dont need to make 2600 hp 100% of the time...800 or 900 is plenty
well lots has been done on this now and was due to be started yesterday however there was a few small issues to be sorted...should be running by next weekend and will be debuted at Powercruise #6 at Eastern Creek on March 3-5 (good plug there)
updated pics...sorry for quality as they are only done on my camera phone....

This is a very very sweet street car I love the custom everything to make it fit, especially the top tank of the intercooler the way to flows with the grill, that turn out very smooth .
Just 1 thing, with all that power im sure it will flex a bit on the engine mounts, how will the fitting below cope? dosent seem to have a lot of flex in them??
I imagen at the jamboree all the ricer boys would have felt even smaller and insignificant than usuall

wont have flex issues as the engine is plated front and rear between the chassis rails..dont have any shots of it on this computer but can dig some up tomorrow if i get time...
this will be a cover car for sure i would say Jamie....they have already approached him to do it however he wants to have run some numbers on the dyno first.. and there is also a few finishing touches to do yet like a custom alloy grill etc..little crap that takes a bit of time..no point putting a half finished car in there is it...
well it was run up on the dyno today to check everything out..
all i can say about it is HOLY FAAAARKKK
with a very soft tune in it ( basically not even coming on boost) ran it up to 180 km/h and then as the boost hit it hazed the tyres so hard that it looked like someone had been doing burnouts in the dyno cell.the readout showed it had 3 psi boost in it.i have never seen anything hit so hard on boost like this thing did..i think the hardest thing on this car will be tuning it so that the dyno will actually be able to cope with the horsepower...
i was too flabbergasted at it that i forgot to video it so will try to remember to do that next dyno run over the weekend
3psi was it not reving hard or just no load on the engine.
Hahaha the hardest thing about getting power out of it will be trying to load up the engine enough to get full boost with out smoking the tyres. Poor dyno
well we took it for its first drive last night...we havent put a TPS on it yet so from idle and once you put your foot down it is flowing heaps of fuel into the engine, but will be fitting it before the next dyno session on Saturday.. this thing is gunna be a handful to drive and i had to change my jocks last night.( for two reasons)...
Phil Laird will be doing all the tuning on this car... he is one of the best in Australia so if anyone can do it he can....
the box is 2 speed powerglide with dedenbear case etc etc and rear end is a braced nine inch with strange axles etc etc... the driveline setup will hopefully handle the treatment it will cop on the dyno however will have to be upgraded before racing it in a few years time.....the biggest concern at the moment is the tailshaft as it is a one piece and no one will guarantee a shaft that long over 1000 HP....
will put more numbers up as they are run and I am definitely looking forward to cruising in this thing around the track at Powercruise in Sydney in a few weeks time
how is the exhaust set up to flow through the tubo.....as the exhaust comes out either side of the block and the turbo is on the pasenger side does the turbo only run off the exhaust from the pas side cylinders???
iv always wondered how a single turbo works on a v8
no the right side bank runs under the engine just in front of the crossmember and joins up just under the turbo..i have a pic somewhere i will see if i can find it...
hmm correct me but power and go means burning fuel right.
so when you pull up to the servo , they be asking, will that be 1 or 2, 44 gallon drums today.
what size tank is it going to hold???
fuel economy of something like that before and after boost any one?

Excuse my ignorance... does that mean the engine is welded to the chassis? Surely too many vibs and torsion for that? Be interested to see those photos if you can dig them up.
I'm enjoying this
* Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool *
cant find those other photos yet..i wil take some more asap..
as for fuel economy we worked out the other day that it costs $10 per minute at idle to run this thing.( being run on C16 at the moment) fuel was being consumed at 1 litre per minute at idle full throttle is gunna be expensive
we have been through a 44 gallon drum of fuel ($1200 worth)already this week just with the few dyno runs the other day the bit of driving around and the few dyno runs it will be getting today.

yes it basically means that, just not welded.. the engine plates bolt across the chassis rails and onto the front and back of the motor.. this engine would destroy any other way of being bolted into the engine bay...
next time you go to the drags or something have a look at all the high horsepower cars, they all do it
dave
EDIT..just found some photos showing the front engine plate a bit

Surely C16 is a lot cheaper than $10 per litre????????????

about $7 a litre it works out.....it is a little bit more than a litre a minute..either way its ridiculously expensive
