4.2 GQ Supercharged mount intercooler ideas

ok i want to get an intercooler off a GU and graft it onto the 4.2 supercharged i have in my wagon .....

on the highway it runs hot
i've done everything ... flushed cooling system ... new thermostat ...
even ran with out thermostat ....

under bonnet temps are up
and the intake pipes are hot to touch from the charger

any other ideas or intercoolers i could graft into the system ...

Your high temps are probably more to do with over fuelling.
Try import wreckers for series 4 to 5 rx7 rotary turbo top mount intercoolers, around $100. Nissan pulsar gtir turbo top mount intercoolers are bigger and more expensive and Nissan skyline r32 to r33 gtst intercoolers also.

apparently the new pathfinder IC's are being used by lots o dudes in comps and are really cheap, someone mentioned $300 cost

If you have room you can buy front mount IC's at the moment for $200 Ne. Check out Melb Trading Post online. More effecient than top mount. Have you lifted the bonnet at the hinges etc?

what about the old fashioned backwards facing gu scoop/s if a front mount intercooler a possibility? to let some heat out as a part fix only obviously aswell as intercoolers.

go a water to air set up, found these on e-bay, nice and cheap, very small so it would fit in most tight places and looks pretty good

when it comes to engines, I'm a bit of a novice, but I woulda thought that your air intake being right above the engine wouldn't be helping your temperatures, how about a snorkel to get some cold air in there ?

As a few people have said you could go front mount intercooler there quite few cheap hybrids ones at the moment.

However I would be more inclined to get more air in the super charger itself. I'd imagine your running a snorkle say the safari units you could remove that and put in place a 3" or preferably a 4" steel snorkle.

I dont think a top mount intercooler from GU would suffice I would suggest getting more into the system and that will also reduce inlet temps as well.

Hobzee ute in the last outback was running no intercooler just 4" snorkle and that alone reduced inlet temps.

maybe put some heat wrap on your extractors ?or get them jet hot coated as they would be causing the bay to heat up alot...

What supercharger do you have and how much boost are you running?
I have a front mount intercooler on my td42 with no temp issues but you might if its running hot allready.
