just wondering if i can buy a lower shock mount for a 40 series with a bolt that the shock slide onto already attached. how are the bolts attached to the mount? are the pressed or just welded? i can make a shock mount it is just i would not know how to attach the bolt that the shock slides onto.
I am unsure if you can buy the factory style mounts. I made my own lower shock mounts after one of the factory ones broke. I simply used some flat bar and bent it to shape in a vise using a hammer and heating it up with the oxy. Then drilled a hole in it , welded it to the axle housing and used a bolt through the shock and mount. It has worked fine.

Just to be clear here, are you referring to the mount for the front or the rear shocks? Rear is part of the U bolt plate - readily available from a wrecker. Front is a plate welded to the diff housing with a fixed (welded) bolt that the shock eye slides onto and is retained by a nut and a split pin. If its a front one then I can't see you buying a replacement, you will most likely have to make one like they have said above, it will look different to the other side but it will probably be more sturdy than the factory style setup. Remember though, measure twice and cut/weld once! If you make the sides of the mount too wide apart then the shock will flog around and destroy the bush. Remember to use a bolt that fits nice and snug in the bush too.
