Gas air cleaner boxes
Gas air cleaner boxes
G'day guys. Just wondering what everyone is running with a carby tb42 on gas. I have an Impco 300a mixer and that stupid plastic air box that you cannot seal I want to fit a snorkel but not until i fix this issue first. Was thinking maybe something of an old school carby v8.
Any info would be great.
Cheers

I would like to know also. As I currently have my aircleaner exposed to the engine bay.
But would like to give the aircleaner the flick. Put the mixer etc in a box. Then run the air-intake to the other side of the engine bay. And proably use something like an 80series/hilux aircleaner setup. Then to the snorkle. As this would give a good sealled system, filters that are cheap. And no need to silcon the aircleaner box or remove gas hoses just to change the air filter.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
Don't know much about gas but doesn't the mixer just sit on top of the carby?
Why not get a 90 degree bend made to fit and screw onto the mixer intake (sort of the like a snorkel but right angle) and then flexible pipe to a seperate air cleaner like the late model turbo diesels. Then pipe to snorkel.

why not just build an air box system.
On the my GQ instead of buying a donaldson air cleaner i'm going to make up a steel box and look at putting in a finer filter or something inside that...

Easy as on a std intake. As it just has a flange or bit of round which you can clamp something onto.
But TB42(CARBY) has this gas mixer thing on top (its an impco 300A). With the air filter around it.
So thinking we shoud be able to build a box around it and run it to a better system
