Low range won't engage

Post by Brunsy »

Tried to engage 4L this arvo and the box just wont do it. Its a GQ SWB petrol and AUTO, I have just had the auto recoed less than 20 thousand kays ago. Makes a bloody awfull grinding of gears on the way thru from 2H down to 4L. I have spaced the gearbox down about 20mm to correct the tailshaft angle since fitting my 50mm raised springs, could this be the problem. I got this car from my old man and he has never shifted it from 2H in the 250 thousand kays he had it.
Any help????

No body lift, but makes sense, just read a thread on how to modify the tunnel surround. What do you make of the grinding as I go from 2H to 4H i never really had this in my manual LWB only noticed it in this vehicle.
cheers brunsy.

because it is auto you have to stop , turn car off and change from high 2 and 4. because you dont have a clutch to release drive

ummm silly question...but couldnt you just put it in nuetral instead of turning the ignition off. that way it would be out of drive.
