THEMS THE BRAKES OR NOT

Post by Loanrangie »

The rangie's brake m/cylinder has sh@t itself and even after fitting new seals its still leaking, gonna bite the bullet and go new but they are a bit exxy at approx. $345. I can get one from the UK at about $140 + postage.
Anyone bought one locally for reasonable money ?

Have you tried British Motor Imports? We buy most of our Rangie gear from them. Generaly its cheaper than buying second hand.

Just got a reply from BMI, nearly fell off my chair - $380+ gst + postage, so they can go get a big black dog up them . I think i will be ordering one from the UK, only downside is i'm off the road till it arrives. Some of these prices are outragious, why is it i can get one from the UK including freight for half the cost of one locally new or reco ?

No imprt

no storage /handling while waiting for some one to buy.

Not even Patricks or P&O charge that much storage at the wharf for a container. They would buy in bulk and wholesale so would get it even cheaoer than i can buy - that just dont cut it.

Mate,
Not as cheap as from UK but European Auto Imports in Box Hill sell them for $286 + GST and have them in stock, I bought not long ago.

My resleve cost around $220 from BHSS in brisbane, I would consider getting it fixed over buying a new one - at the rate people are charging for the new one you could get it resleved and hire a car while it was off the road and you would still be ahead

Also worth giving FWD Motors a call.

http://www.fwd-motors.com.au/
Phone 61 7 3848 9323
Fax 61 7 3892 2897

They are mainly a wholesaler (supply most of the LR and toyota parts places in OZ), but they also sell direct to the public.

You would probably get a better price if you phoned them. I found that wholesale price from them was about the same price as buying in the UK or cheaper.
