D300 Transfer case.

Post by bj on roids »

Apparently, the best thing Jeep ever did was install a Dana 300 T-case. But thats another argument ;) In my quest to find one I came across a cheap Dana 20, but had a distinct lack of interest.

I saw one for $1000 and nearly fell over. I could buy a whole hilux for that!!

What do these things retail for in driving condition?? Anybody local got the 4:1 gears?

I was offered a US one needing rebuild for US$600 with 4:1s.

I am not installing one, just thinking about it at the moment. Not like I would tell you guys anyways, Wooders, gives me enough lip as it is!! ;)

But serious pros and cons if you have any would be welcomed, along with prices and so forth! Cheers

Dad always told me you get get what you pay for! :D :D
Apparently people think I'm too patronising (that means I treat them like they’re stupid).

Yeah but that's ALLL the entire HiLux is worth (in good cond ;))....
You can get them cheaper - but becuase they are so rare out here you'll pay a bit of a premium....or get stung by our crappy xrate.....
Try the Jeep Wreckers Mascot Motors (Nowra) or Hunter Spares (lemon Tree Passage)

BJ i am running a Dana 300 with Teralow 4:1 gearset in it.

The ratio has made a HUGE diff to mine. The transfer is spose to be one of the toughest jeep uint there is.

I paid $625 USD for the 4:1 kit from www.trailquest.com, but was quoted
$2800 AUD from USA 4X4 in Melb.

$600 with the 4:1 as long as it is not one of the realy one kits ( that had some problems) it would be a reasonable buy.

get onto hammond.
they were mentioning bringing in 14 of the suckers from the US a while ago when I asked.

Don't know if it every happened.
They also mentioned AUS$700 which is pretty steep as they sell for US$50-200 all day long in the states.

Maybe look for an np205 or something instead....might be easier to get at the ford wreckers around.

cheers
