a question on diff gears,

from what ive heard, you can get, 4.11, 4.3, 4,6 and 4,8's am i correct oon these?

if so, i take it 4,11's run 31's
4,3's run 33's
4,6's run 35's
and 4,8's run bout 37's

is that about correct to put the speedo back into callibration? and not harm my economy? if so what model do i get the 4,3's out of?

Too many beers, meant the speedo gears are cheaper than diffs by a grand.

presuming your running 33's, first check your speed with a gps, mine was spot on with 4.11 gears.
you can also get 3.900 and 3.545 but the only 4.3's i can think of that will fit your h233b rear diff would be out of the 3.0litre petrol patrol.

Yes they do. Its only the GU's with the big rear diff that don't fit GQ's.

GQ Front: H233b - 31 Spline
GQ Rear: H233b - 33 Spline
GQ Leaf Rear: H260 (Narrow)
GU Front: H233b - 31 Spline
GU Rear: H233b - 33 Spline
GU Big Rear: H260 - 37 Spline (wider)

aus4wd, pretty sure the navara 4.636 CW&P fit the small diff rear.
at least it did on a 2.8 gu carrier.

I _think_ the crown wheel bolts are smaller. It would be good to know for sure.

The 4.88 gears I got from GJ Gears said GQ on the box. When I rang they said the diffs are the same (except for the 4.8 and I think some 3.0).

The H260 rear diff is in GU Petrols & Manual 3.0 TD however it has been said that some variations have occurred at the factory.

You can check by the compliance plate. There is a transaxle code, it has HG 41 for a 4.1 ratio with H233B rear. HH 41 is for a 4.1 ratio with H260 rear diff.

patrol 4.625 diff has teeth 37/8.
navara 4.636 diff has teeth 51/11.
bolt holes the same but can't say for sure whether or not they were drilled out by diff shop when they installed it.

Hi guys,

Just to let you know that there is a 5.1 ratio that finnaly I manage to buy...it comes from Spanish Army Nissans...fits GQ.
Front: I have to chnage the satelites and to make a new courved tie-rod.
Back: fiting the ring and pinion.

Consequentely, I sell my 4,625 gears for GQ.

Stop Drooling..

I was talking to him about his 4.6's last night freight from Romania to Melb is ~$120! So 5/1s could be marketable.

5'7s

Post by Jmcdonald »

Hi all,

I am expecting some 5'7 ratios soon to suit the Nissan GQ/GU centers but may or may not run them when they turn up due to weakness of the gear set, as I run 42" swampers. Any way there are other ratios availble made by a company in italy for the nissan GQs and GU's people should look into it as people are getting ripped off majorly here in australia :D so do your home work before spending three times the amount on a set of Australian made gears :P

yeah, but do they last, or does the case hardening wear off after 20,000k's like some of the imported ones
