any sign of exhaust manifold leaks? they sound like tappets and are more prominent when reved , easpeacilly under load due to more fuel being burnt

Ahhh, is that what my ticking noise could be?
I checked my tappets when I first noticed the noise but they were all spot on!
Dont expect mere proof to sway my opinion.

Had similar noise on the GQ TD42 and found it was the flange leaking from disintegrated gasket where the pipe joins the manifold, so make sure you get underneath and have a good look up at the flange too. Hope that helps :)

MR, if you have checked the valve clearances and they are ok then it sounds lik it might be the manifold gasket.

When I had the same problem on my old MK I found the Manifold was actually warped. Check for carbon leaking around the manifold, it will be easy to see.

If it is leaking in the middle like mine was be careful of the bracket which bolts the turbo to the manifold. What was happening with mine was the turbo bracket was pushing the manifold away from the head causing a gap between the gasket/head/manifold. Once I ground it down it was sweet.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...
No they ain't, I'm just in front...............

Not bein smart arse mate but oil level may be low. Since rockers are generally last to get oil in the engine if the oil level is low the crank and bottom end may still be gettin sufficient oil pressure yet by the time it gets up to the rockers it may be getting a little low causing a little tap tap.

hi there i have checked the oil. after a mission to find the dip stick :bad-words: but managed after 35 minutes to find it and the oil level is fine but is very very black will probaly do a oil change on it. so does anybody know how many litres of oil a sd33t mq motor takes and what kind of oil. thankz very much :D

Yeah no dramas mate. Its been a few years since i owned an old MQ and the minds a bit rusty but if you brought 10 litres of diesel engine oil you would be right i reckon. Also dont forget to change the oil filter. Give the tappets a going over and i hopefully that ticking will go away.
Happy Truckin!
