Should work if dims the same at pins BUT they will be too hard and may sit too high.
You can remove the leaf above the overload and if 2 the same length above remove one of them

Its not that simple as to say why did they tell me otherwise,
The miidy leafs probably use differing lengths and thicknesses to the ute.
Playing with them wont make them the same it will just make them acceptable for you.

It's important to do some maths on these to ensure you don't bend the main leaf. Because the main leaf is longer than standard, you will need to limit the up travel with longer bumpstops, or longer shackles. It is easy to check this, just run it up an RTI ramp or similar to cycle the suspension through the full range of movement. Otherwise when the shackle tops out at full compression the main leaf bends, weakens and eventually breaks clean, usually right near the spring eye. Of course the extra travel is there if you also have matched length long travel shocks.

measure the arc length of the main leaf, then measure back from the centre of the spring hanger back past the shackle hanger and mark the chassis at the arc length of the main leaf, make your shackles the length between that mark and the centre of the shackle hanger and that will give you a starting point to work with...

Where are you getting the leaves from? Cheap/free?

Wendle's suggestion about the longer shackles would be the easiest way to go. And if you take out a leaf or 2 the pack might drop a little, which should be offset by the longer shackle length.
