dobbins had dug away the huge big lump of dirt on the 10 point mark that stopped most of the competitors on friday night and that only left an undermud ledge to get up at the end of that bog hole.
the mog dozed that into a ramp so it was easier after that.
BB was a bit unlucky as he hit the right hand bank and bounced across into the big wheel rut under the mud on the left hand side which forced him up the left bank and tipped him over.
I was filming and thought he was going to jump the left bank and just about crapped myself as i took off like a scalded cat ... dunno how much i captured of it [or what words were said ]
we were camped across from the mud run and didn't see any track mods apart from dozing some of the mud away from the side of the mud hole so we could film without standing in ankle deep slop.

Yeah that sh1t was wrong. Should have been an announcement as I couldn't see SAM not giving it a shot.....especially in someone elses rigOVERKILL ENGINEERING wrote:Was an awsum event good tracks good feild of competitors.Must thank Paully and his Family for letting me drive his truck and there Hospitality.
My Only gripe for the weekend was the dickheads in the crowd. After Completing the Frame twister we were ging to have a crack at the bonus line but on exiting the frame twister we broke the oill filter of the engine .The Marshals said that if we could get it fixed within the 15 minutes for the next vehicle running then we coukd have a go. The damage sustained was more than we thought as we had broken the filter housing as well.Anyway we got it alll fixed bit it was tooo late as the time was up and they were holding the Heart break ridge course open for us. So The marshalls said we couldn.t have a crack at the bonus . On the way out to the next course we were called nearly every name you could think of that wassn't flattering. So to those dickheads get off your pissed arses and have a go yourselfs then we will see who the Poofters,Wankers,Scardicats and F!!!!witts are.
SAM
I was thinking the same thing last year when Peter busted a control arm and chose not to attack the bonus tyres.
The d!ckheads were abusing with all sorts of rubbish. He would have rooted the whole front end if he'd have even tried it, but not in the eyes of the armchair experts.

What about 2 attempts at the travel ramp!!!! Should this be allowed?alexcliffo wrote:yeah what the f is that about. Also Dobbins little adjustable chock. may as well carry a jackhammer and smash the rocs into smaller peices.De-lux wrote:i just thought of two things that gave me the shits.
1. Way to many marshalls as usual. (mainly on the travel ramp, right infront of the truck going up, but also on other stages too)
2. compeditors using ramps!!
I.E. that full body rangie!!
If your sittin' comfortable your not livin' on the edge
I ran immediately after Glen and still didn't make it through. We tried winching then driving, but no go.rustys wrote:
Glen Dobbins score in the mud event was -10 that put us 130 point behind Pete and Mick.As for the corse being changed I think Glen was the only one to do any serious changes to the corse as that before Glen only Phill in the black GU made it throught but after DOZZER(Glens trucks new name)had a shot at it more trucks made it through.Thats just the way it was .But what an exellent comp can't wait for next year.

The mud should still be run as the crowd loves it but the points should be awarded in the same way that the ramp, show and shine, engineering are all scored.
First place gets 40 points
Second gets 39 points
...
...
last gets 1 point
Then even if the mud changes massively and you don't get through you are not too far behind everyone else.
Definitely agree they have to create rules to stop people using little (and not so little) ramps.
It will get out of hand and next year someone will rock up with a full exo cage that can be unbolted like a mechano set and turned into ramps.
Just a couple of my thoughts...

nailed it perfectly...totally agree with that idea of scoring.. would by far be the best and fairest way of doing itzzzz wrote:The mud should still be run as the crowd loves it but the points should be awarded in the same way that the ramp, show and shine, engineering are all scored.

Why put your vehicle through that much torture in the mud for no real result. The harder the better....... Keep the points...... Should be penelties for reversing.. say 1 point each..... Obviousely the bigger Tired trucks have an advantage....
But also have a major disadvantage which Athol found out in
Team Kamikazi.........
This is Tuff Truck. 1 Class Only.......... I have heard of competitors & general spectators over the past week winge that they want more classes.
The rules are their for all, Use them to your advantage or don't, Stretch them or whatever as long as your within them...
Choose to have rear steer or don't..... For Tuff Truck Front Digs are just as effective as rear steer.....
Next year there will be at least 10-12 vehicles with rear steer.... So comeon Guys, the bar is being raised every year & this year has been the highest level of competition so far.........
Congrats go to all competitors... Exceptional driving was witnessed all weekend............
Well Done to Tuff Events & Promotions. A great successfull event.....
I thoroughly look forward to TTC 2007

Sure I might have been one of the smaller less equipped vehicles in this year's TTC, but I still think it's the competitors that need to step up. Why hobble the big boys or split the class up. We are competing in Tuff Truck not "Tuffest in your class Truck". Eveyone is there to try and be the toughest truck in the Aus so why handicap the true tough trucks.
Although, with regards to the mud, I'd sooner see it left out of the competition next year. Introduce a drag race, burnout comp or whatever but not mud.
Congrats to all competitors. The level has really been raised this year. Looking forward to TTC 07!

Exactly - this is what differentiates Tuff Truck from the other events; it is an all out competition to see who can make and drive the Tuffest Truck.TEAM OPW wrote: This is Tuff Truck. 1 Class Only.......... Also, when are we going to get some pics of teams Just Customs/ABT Racing, BJ racing, Thick and Thin, Bling, Zooked - PGS Racing and PGS racing (cruiser)?

Mud needs to be there as the event is not a rock crawling event. I believe it needs to have a diversity of obstacles. If you can't make it through the mud so be it. Some trucks will do better in the mud than in the mini wiraba, should we get rid of that to?
Maybe the change in scoring like mentioned is a better way for the mud run. Tuff truck is about havinga vehicle that can perform in a variety of challenges, not neccessarily win them all but be consistent in them all.

Ransom note = demand + collage
One thing to consider is that the mud run was a man made track
The tracks should be designed to get harder as you progress further along the track, not stop 3/4 of the competitors before the 10pt marker.
Fridays night run became long and drawn out with few highlights. We were at the night stage on saturday night and from all reports the viewing was a lot better on saturday night

Whatever happened to the original idea from Tuff Truck 2001 about the go-to-whoa event. Was this killed off for insurance reasons?MADZUKI wrote:beebee wrote: Introduce a drag race,

Can you not just elect not to run the mud and incur a DNF?Although, with regards to the mud, I'd sooner see it left out of the competition next year. Introduce a drag race, burnout comp or whatever but not mud.
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
The weekend was great, except for the guy on the scissor lift with the mic at Fridays mudrun. He certainly didn,t know when too shut with the stupid comments . There where a number of spectators and competitors around me that where getting jacked off by him ,to the point that one of them went up and theatened to tear him a new one if he didnt shut up At all the comps Ive been to theres always a lot of good sportsmanship going on with the competitors willing to help each other out, this guy did nothing to promote this The other two guys on the other hand where great!!
I started out with nothing and still have most of it left !

Yeah but if they didnt want to do that...... they would cop a massive amount of heckling!!! Just been reading through all of this.....
With various comments of "should have this, shouldn't have that".....all I can say is that each year we listen and each year we have a big meeting to make necessary changes.
One thing I have noticed, and it irritates me, is the constant Tuff Truck vs. WERock stuff.
Tuff Truck is about tough trucks - WERock is about tough buggies. Whilst both are based on building the best the vehicle and teaming it with the best driver, the two are like chalk and cheese.
You are comparing hard core rock crawling with short course runs.
It's starting to get like a school yard spat and looking a bit silly......we did this....you did that....we had this......you had that......
Tuff Truck and WERock are both fantastic, well run events. Buggies are becoming more and more popular and I sincerely hope it gets big over here.
Comparing the two is like comparing the Grand Prix F1's to Bathursts V8's - both awesome but run at different vehicle classes.
Nuff said.

Just a comment on the comentators, can they get there shit together with peoples names, and truck mods etc. All throught the weekend they continued to stuff up who drove what, or what it had done to it etc. And really, sometimes they just seem to talk for the hearing of their own voice.

Just a note on the mud run........ there was def NO change made to the course during the event. The only changes made during the event were that of the tyres.
There were two trenches dug across the "splash" run in the middle of the course and the end of this section dug out. This was done late Friday afternoon well b4 the comp started.
As for other course changes......... the only change was done to the frame twister on day 2 after a set of 44's totally destroyed the course. (lets face it, it ya cant drive over the obstical...... just root it for the next one!!!) This reconstruction was done at the request of the Frame Twister Marshal. 2 cars later Tony Price put a stop to it and aloud the vehicles to return.
I know this to be true cause I spent the entire weekend with the excavators.

Top comp - worth the long drive from Tassie, wish we could host one here and make you MLanders appreciate how lucky you are!
For me:
Best entertainment=Red Bitch over the top on the All Terrain
One most likely to win: Antunac of course!
Best perfromance on dollars spent=Mog Rover
Best Driver=Mog Rover, eg., recovery from flip on side
Worst perfomance: announcers - simply pathetic!
Biggest embarrassment=drunken fwits in the crowd, felt sorry for the women and the kids there, definetely not a family event even though it should - organisers should take note!
Overall, a truley memorable event!
