TD42 vs RD28T

Post by Shy Industries »

I was wanting to swap my TD42T into an RD28T vechicle but have been told that they have different wiring looms and are not compatable with each other. Is this true and also is there any way around it?.
Cheers.

If you are confident enough to do the engine swap yourself, the wiring should be a breeze. Diesels have such minimal wiring, fundamentaly the TD42 will have every sensor the the 28 has. I have done various engine swaps (petrol engines) and the wiring can get very confusing but i would be surprised if you couldnt atleast get it running then get an autolecky to sort out the rest. If you can get hold of wiring diagrams for each model and compare the similarities, I did this with my carby 3.0 GQ and the VL injection diagrams and was surprised at how easily the two mated together.
