Sorry to hear your SAD news dude, but I must let you know that there are prolly 50 other teams working all hours to get thier trucks ready for the event. Some will be running in motors driving to the event!!! We did a few yeard back after finally getting the shorty on the road the night before we left.
There's alway next year!

Truth be known, my car is not engineered or registered at the momemt, but that should all be resolved this weekend. At least the engineer saw it 4 weeks ago and I have only 1 thing left to comply.

The vehicle is actually striiped down being resprayed today.. I see a few long nights over the next two weeks...

As for the car... it should be fine, I won't have a lot of time driving it in preparation, but the vehicle itself should be ready.

Besides it wouldn't be the OBC if I was well rested before the event.

i still need another 8 mod codes from 2 engineers! also if the decision was up to me i would have been there untested. I am unable to find a navigator and finishthe rig on short notice thus my withdrawl. I can assure everyone if it were possible i would be there

I probably like you cant wait to get over there too and see the action and meet some more 4wd friends and catchup with the Aussie boys that we have met before.

Well last year they wher changing heads on cars the night before. And quite often people are tunning on the way. Dont know how good the tunes would be for comp use. But they would be good for the TPT stages.

not just a list of gear a quick off the top of my head list of what has been fitted and modded this build stage and is currently untested! the only standard item left is the gearbox everything else has been played with. I also wanted to fit female rht gq tierod ends all round none of that stupid rht/lht and gu/gu crap. also the 3rds arms at the upper rear need replacing there is not enough thread with a 7" there stuff is so poorly designed every item i have had major dramas with. wish i just fabbed my own!

glad there is understanding of the situation by so many!

as i have said before if it was my desision i would be there. i have invested so much now that $800 for transport $2k for fuel etc would be nothing in the scope of things for fantastic testing for next year if nothing else.

All the best to Rog and ?+%$#@ this year. Last year it had a new motor & transmission and when we arrived in Broken Hill we discovered water in the oil which had to be sort of fixed. By the end of the event the t/case ended up stuck in low so it was trailored home. Trailing arms were replaced before the Alpine and I believe it now has new paint. With all the dramas from last year, even with lots of preperation before hand we still had fun. I hope this year with his new (well kind of new!!) navi they stay competitive and place well in the only car to have done all the OBC!!

Oh and Its grouse to see another TUFF looking Toyota. Hopefully between Sam and Coops the YOTA's can kick some Nissan buts!!

Bru don't take it to heart. I know the effort you have put in to get there only to get so close and have to withdraw. It's gotta kill you!!

At a meeting on Thursday we were advised they are expecting 60 teams, 6 coming from abroad.

It must be dissapointing for you, but is there any chance of going to spectate at all? At least this would give you a better understanding of the event in preparation for 07.

Bru - been following your build up of your rig for a long time. Shame u have pulled out. Finish the rig and drive it! Spectacted at OBC 2003 and was impressed, IMHO lots of rigs basically simple in design but highly strenghtend / modified to last the distance. Also big hp helps in the sand such as at Dineen. If u have not been before spectating it gives u a good heads up so to speak.

Can someone post a list of the trucks that we overseas spectators should watch or/and follow. Some must be favourites to take the tittle more than others

There is a list of names on the OBC website but it doesn't have vehicle info. Most are GQs, some are GUs, Hilux & Rangies. I will get a list when i arrive and if you are in a spectator group all that info will be available to you. I'll catch you there!!

Yes James, we are almost ready, one more weekend to finish of the packing and we are away.

It's going to be interesteing driving a diesel this time, a new experience in the OBC.

just did a big all nighter down to Brisvegas and back to pick up a tilt bed truck that I bought yesterday. Thanks to the guys down there that got stuff ready for me. I amazed a couple of people when I showed them how to fit 5 x 35inch tires and 6 rims to suit in a hyundai elantra :D . My comp truck is still in pieces and I haven't even run the new engine combo on the dyno to bed it in and tune it yet. I leave up here on monday so I don't have much time left. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute hey :rofl:
