How hard is it to remove the clock for re-soldering? Is it as simple as removing the facia (undo the screws I guess) and unplugging the wiring, or are there any 'tricks-of-the-trade' to know about?
Is it the same with the radio/cassette?

It's very easy to get the clock out and there are no secret tricks.
Just start by undoing the screws on the console, there are a few in plain view on the sides, plus a few up under the face vents (you have to tilt the vents back to see the screws) and a few concealed behind the ash tray.
Then the whole console fascia will pull forward and the clock is held in place by two screws. Its wires can be unplugged.
And when you have done this you will see the simple bracket setup that holds the radio in place... It is a DIN arrangement so you can slide any modern stereo in easily as a replacement.

What is the actual problem you are having with the clock, as mine fades in and out, I can jiggle the wire at the back and it will stay on for about 2 days then slowly fade out to nothing, but it does still keep great time.challenger wrote:How hard is it to remove the clock for re-soldering? Apparently it's fixable with some solder but I just swapped for another.

When you get the clock out of the dash, remove the cover. You will see a fairly large (compared to the other electronic components) blue capaciter. Resolder the joints between this and the PCB.
Mine has never faded out since doing this.

I asked about the clock not about sticking a bloody watch to the dash, already got one of them on me armFind the dry solder joints which crack adn lose connection, and resolder them.
mate just resoldered every joint. I just got a $10 watch from the servo and double sided taped it in place.
