Mate at work was telling me that the noise he has had in the front is wheel bearings on the way out.He then was told that he has to replace hubs as well as they are one unit at $750 t gst each.
Anyone know of this occurrence and cheaper way to repair it.
You can get the bearing only, very obscure part number that you wont find in the parts catalogue (Microcat etc) Still pricy but a hell of a lot better than a complete hub. Will check number when Im back at work tomorrow (beer o'clock in NZ )
I know it to be true.
Jeep is the same and they share Dana axles. So is Explorer apparently
I read somewhere that there are places in US which machine Jeep hubs and fit normal bearings.
I do not know of anyone in Australia.

Timken Bearing number NP275832, Bearmach part number STC3243B. We sell about 1 a month. According to the workshops we supply they are a real biarch to get out though. $NZ348.00 + gst Retail
looks simlar to the old ford festiva front wheel bearings real Cookie to press in and out special tools to remove them from the hub but can be pressed back in with a normal press of around 30 ton
