Axle splines question

Post by Drafty »

Are the splines on a GQ axle and a GU axle the same at the diff end? :?

1 out of a 4.2L GQ Diesel and the other out of a 4.5L GU petrol.

Depends on what your doing drafty ,The splines are the same but the length on the rears are different , only know from seeing the end product of running a gq axle in the rear of a gu at TT, theres about ten mm diference so the spline on the gq only penatrates half way when placed in a gu housing ! This is correct Nissan dudes ? If so then a gu axle in a gq would not seat at the bearing end aswell.

We are going to put my GU front diff in the front of the GQ we are building but want to use the GQ centre with locker from our old GQ. Every component will be GU except the centre and locker setup.

12.5mm - don't get enough spline engagement. If you get it wrong the other way (gu axle into gq housing) you are left doing this  as the axle won't slide in enough.
