I hear ya Cheezy... amazing the difference between rounds 1 and 2 in terms of weather!!

Nother Q: I should really read these posts better... "all terrain"... are we talking mud, bog holes, etc?

If so I am out - not into dunking the buggy in the mud - just not designed for it.

Oh, and I am fully up or some test days on the rocks!!

 Interesting, My car does not seem to fit in any class.

Although it may fit in the stock class.. However, I have slighty larger tyres..

29" instead of the stock 26" crap.

As for the gears, my rockhopper gears give me approx 90:1, dual cases with stock gers in both give basicly the same. So if gears are allowed but duals aren`t its not fair.
In Tryers Class diff gears are allowed but t-case gears aren't. Different Makes have differing amounts of options as in some models don't have any diff gear options and some don't have any t-case options. How about instead of looking at gears you look at the overall crawl ratio? Isn't that what is more important? Maybe something like more than and less than 60:1 as an idea.

Also I think Gary's suggestion for Stock Class of allowing up to 2" increase in tyre size as per the NCOP is not all bad or maybe it should be more like 2" total lift overall as per the NCOP allows before engineering becomes an issue.

Either way I think the event concept is a great idea and anything is better than nothing. Looking forward to it.

These rules are not concrete at this point in time we are looking at one exemption per class poa ie,gears or motor or tyres.
Lockers or Knockers ,both will make for fun.

cool, I can not use an air locker but I can't not use my t/case gears. Is tyre size based on actual size or what is marked on the tyre?

that sounds like a great idea although I think tye size and difflock rule should not be exempted. although I think that for stock class a good rule would be tyre size capped at 31" for all vehicles or 31" for suzuki and 33" for larger vehicles so that all vehicles are allowed to run equal tyre/size diff clearance no matter what vehicle.

OK I`ve been giving this some thought today while at work

If you have only 1 thing that puts you in to the next class you can pm me about it. List EVERYTHING done to your rig and I will decide on a case by case ruling.

For eg if you have a hilux that only has a motor conversion and 35`s you will be in tryers class, but if you also have transfer gears/duals or even just 1 lock you will still be in challenge.

Or eg #2 if you have a GQ with 1 lock and transfer gears then you will be in tryers, but if you have 2 locks you will be in challenge.

As I have said before all this is depended on CCDA rulings and insurance and this we can not 100% conferm untill next week because of people being at the OBC.

Edit, I will not reply to any of these pm`s untill after we have confermed the classes with CCDA as I don`t want to have to change the class I have said you can be in.

Transfer gears and duals will stay in Challenge. You can not run an event by saying if you are under bla bla final ratio you are in bla bla class or bla bla2 class if you are over that. Some people would say they have 4.11 diff gears when in fact they have 5.29`s and it would just take to much time to check every rig.

If you can't check diff ratios then how are you going to check t-case gears? Forget what I posted before as I don't have any ;)

This sounds like fun.

I know the rules aren't finalized but may I put a suggestion forward.

I've got a reasonably stock Patrol as far as offroad mods go but as I have no lockers or gears but a 3" lift this excludes me from stock class (even though I'd be happy to have a crack on my stock A/Ts :D ).

Ok so now I'm in tryers class. Again, no problem, I'll have a crack, but on my stock A/Ts not a hope in hell. So I'll chuck my 36" Pedes on. Oh crap, now I'm in challenge class with the 36" pedes, no locker, no gears, no chance. :x

Ok, so my suggestion for your consideration, pick a couple of main mods that as specific to each class and maybe you can trade one off, to allow another mod to get you into a class. (ie for tryers class, I have bigger than allowed tyres but no locker so they cancel each other out as there is a good chance I'll be competing against others that have tyres only 1 inch smaller but also may have a locker, etc)

This may or may not be agreeable to others arguing out their individual mods, but food for thought.

Cheers. :D

Vehicle Classes

Post by okz00k »

Re vehicle classes, why not stick with CCDA classes. They are well defined in the CCDA FWD Manual of Motorsport. Click Here to download a copy.

As the Willowglen people found, they cater pretty well for a good range of vehicles.

Let's not keep re-inventing vehicle specs for each different event. If the current CCDA specs don't cater for all our vehicle types, then let's get the standard class definitions updated so they do.

Stick to a set of standards - saves a lot of mucking around and trying to sort out your own variation.

ARRR HELLO  as Guts stated nothing will b finalised until smithy (CCDA BOSS)comes back from OBC we will conferm all under ccda specs . These are simply ideas that once again We at OZROCK are giving to oppertunity for imput. keep it up as this is for you's.
